Luckily for me, I have some very smart Facebook friends.
A friend from Wilfrid Laurier has just cracked the secret code behind your emoji keyboard, specifically how we all use the “pink lady”. The official title of the “pink lady” is actually the “Information Desk Person”, according to Unicode, the creators of the emoji app.
Below is her Facebook post and comments, including my personal like of the status because I was in shock to discover this. As you can see it was very well received and has now been picked up by Mic News in New York and USA Today College.
According to Stern, the emoji with the woman holding her hand near her hair is not just the girly and proud emoji we use to brag, but the second half of a series of emojis. Who would have thought? I have been using emojis wrong this entire time! The first half is the girl with scissors near her hair, suggesting a haircut. But when you put them together as Stern’s Facebook theory shows, that she is showing off a fresh, new style.

Of course it makes sense after looking at your emoji keyboard! And now don’t you want to know ALL of the emoji secrets? Are there more emoji stories that we haven’t figured out yet? What are all the official titles of each emoji? So many questions!
Here is just another example how mobile technology and the internet are fascinating places. And Buzzfeed, will you get back to Jessi already? She’s anxiously waiting to hear from you!
